Why is it necessary to identify the pathogens of respiratory infections?
According to the WHO, respiratory tract infections are major causes of morbidity and mortality in early childhood as well as in older kids. About 70% of these infections affect the upper respiratory tract and the middle ear.
The main focus of general practitioners and pediatricians remains on the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory infections, as these account for more than 90% of all outpatient visits, especially in autumn and winter.
We offer various PCR-based testing options that detect bacterial and viral infections of the respiratory tract. These include both multiplex tests for a wide range of potential pathogens as well as single-tube tests for a specific type of virus or bacteria.
